The Ohio Integrated Systems Model for Academic and Behavior Supports (OISM) is a comprehensive school-wide prevention and intervention model that provides support systems which address both academic and behavioral needs of ALL students.
Districts throughout the state are implementing this comprehensive prevention model because there is evidence that employing multi-tiered systems of academic and behavior supports raises the achievement of students, closes achievement gaps, and improves overall school climate.
In districts where OISM is being implemented district and building leadership teams are formed. These teams of diverse stakeholders use the Collaborative Strategic Planning Process to develop action plans that include high quality professional development for the implementation of school-wide academic and behavior supports, and systems for monitoring progress.
The model is implemented through collaboration with Ohio's network of Special Education Regional Resource Centers; supported by the Ohio Department of Education / Office for Exceptional Children.
